The soil fertility program uses the most advanced GPS technology to create field boundaries and geo-referenced soil sample sites. This provides continuity at each sampling interval (usually each 4 years). Samples are collected at the same location each time for more precise monitoring of fertility. GPS sampling provides accurate determination of acreage, (important when considering input allocation, cash rents and leases), and presents the option to use Variable Rate Technology (VRT) in fertilizer application. At every step, SGS fertility testing and GPS sampling makes cost-effective information available to producer clients.
